Messy, uncomfortable, but also unforgettable.

 

Since I started watching the Oscars back in the 2000s, this has been the most memorable one. Perhaps for the wrong reasons, well, definitely for the wrong reasons. Rock's joke was tasteless, the punch wasn't right at all, but it's very understandable why it happened. Still, gonna be an....interesting week.

 

Well Academy, you wanted to be in the spotlight....here you go.

I repeat, the only person at the oscars who handled Ukraine well was Mila Kunis..for obvious reasons.

It's like watching a really bad auto wreck...you know what you are wathcing is horrible, and you feel guilty about watching but, you can't turn away.

And it's clear something is very wrong with the Oscars, and it goes way beyond having  incopetent producers two years in a row.

Which is why I brought up sporting events.

 

Tell me honestly, baumer.  Do you say that "that dude ought to be in cuffs" every time a slap is thrown at a hockey game or a basketball game?

And I brought up bars because while folks can get arrested in bar fights, usually they don't.  Slapping someone exactly once and not getting put in cuffs is exactly the type of things "we normal folks" can get away with.  Maybe not every time, but it sure as hell doesn't happen every time.

Will Smith shouldn’t be locked up, but he should’ve kept himself under control. Because of him, this is all people will talk about. Coda just won, and no one cares. All they care about is that Will Smith hit and cussed out Chris Rock, and then won an Oscar shortly afterward.

i don't even think it's a joke i just think it's a good way to describe that type of movie. it's not a film that's gonna last in people's memory beyond today. hell even today because Chastain's win was totally overshadowed by Will Smith's weird ass speech.

Here's my take as a progressive person running for office - both people trying to make Will a woke hero of black women AND insane people calling for him to be arrested or escorted out are wrong. We should appreciate this moment for what it is - the rare unifying, hilarious moment of live television.
