The second half was pretty fun, the first half was pretty boring. It overstays its welcome a bit.

Probme it looks like fun, but not enough fun to justify 12 bucks for a ticket for many people.

I know I am harping on this, but a lot of people don't get that budgets are a lot tighter for many people nowdays.  Movies they might have gone to see a couple of years ago they now pass up.

Let's put it this way: For the price of a movie ticket, you can subscribe to most streaming services and get a lot more for your money if simple fun is all you are after.

Movies have got to have something extra to get people into theaters nowdays; Part of an establsihed franchise, some hook, really, really good WOM etc.

Very limited budget for good movies, but unlimited budget for crap like Venom: The Last Cashgrab, I know I know, that's how it usually works. First excuse is blame marketing, then blame studio, now it's very selective "no money" when you can't blame first two.

 

What does "not enough fun" even mean? It's a pure crowdpleaser, it can't be more "fun" than it already is.

Yeah that's just silly. Not enough fun? What are audiences even looking for then? Yes, this probably should've been made for like $50 mil less. But it doesn't look like that's even going to matter. Maybe it will have good legs? Do films really need to go viral to hit it big now?

I hated the Venom movies as much as you do, but Venom had something that Fall Guy did not...a charecter with a big time current following. 

I repeat, i think films nowday have to have something more then just being fun to be a big hit.

And I have noted pleny of "crowsplesers" have failed to draw big crowds.

Entertianment budgets for many people..those Married with kids in particular....are much tighter then they used to be.

So... even by your own words it's all about big and popular IP no matter how low quality is and not actually about "much tighter entertainment budgets"? Because it seems that way, it doesn't look like they struggle to find money when some hyped comic book movie is released. And then they go on social media to complain about bad Hollywood making crap. The circle of life.

This would've benefited from a R rating. PG13 holds it back a bit. Lotta fun though. Comparisons to Tropic Thunder, Nice Guys, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang are apt. Not as good as those but a big smile nonetheless.

In the words of PT Barnum, no one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American Public.

But I stand by my claim that inflation  has bitten deep into many peoole's entertaiment budget.

How the hell would a light heatred adventure comedy benefited by a R rating?

And one that was aimed from the beginning at a general audience?

Universal delayed the audience score for Strays until the Sunday or Monday after release. We’ll just have to wait to see what happens.

7.3 on IMDB and 3.6 on lbxd right now. I think they both have gotten better at snuffing out review bombing so those are probably reasonably genuine

There is also no reason to believe this movie will suffer review bombing.

 

There doesn't seem to be any kind of "hate" for this movie.
