Demography-

As expected, women are the majority at Woman King at 60%, with 58% over 35 and 39% over 45, another promising sign for an older demographic that was reluctant to head out during the height of the pandemic. Black moviegoers turned out at 59%, with Caucasians at 19%, Latino and Hispanic at 12%, and Asian/other at 10%.

The R-rated Ti West-directed movie skewed 53% guys, with 79% between 18-34. Grades were meh, though on par for a horror movie, at B- CinemaScore and 75% positive, 54% recommend from PostTrak. The coasts and Southwest were potent here, with nine of the top ten runs. Alamo counted four of the top ten. Demos were 51% Caucasian, 25% Latino and Hispanic, 11% Black, and 13% Asian/other.

With a budget of $16M that Black Phone total is really spectacular when you think about it. I still haven't seen it (not super into horror) but with a $90M finish and great critical/audience scores, is this one that's set up to spawn sequels?

Not really, no.

I could see Super Pets potentially doing a little better than WB's projected 28% Sunday drop. At my theater yesterday, 2/3 of its matinees were lost to the Batman Day screenings. All it was left with was an 11:30 AM and a post-10:00 PM (!) screening. Don't know how common that was nationwide, but it could lead to a better Sunday hold.

From Deadline in the Sunday update, so this is PLF through Saturday (the percent went down a little)...

"PLF screens and Imax auditoriums are repping 34% of Woman King‘s weekend ticket sales at this point in time."

and

"Imax Woman King prints at 235 grossed $950K for the weekend."

It must be the non-IMAX screens (Dolby, etc) pulling that PLF number up

$950K is 5% of $19M OW est, BT was a $2.5/$30 = 8%, and Nope was $5.2/$44 = 11.8% (all per Sunday AM Deadline write-ups). So the IMAX loss to Avatar may not hurt as much, but the PLF loss overall may, depending on if/how many it can keep

It's more of a thriller than straight-up horror which makes its success even more impressive

Ungodly pissed at the fact I am gonna miss Three Thousands Years of Longing in theaters. It played for a week while I was out on vacations and when I returned either it was pulled completely or just had residual shows which I couldn't fit with my free time.
