Honestly, if A2 doesn't end up recovering, it will be very concerning for theaters since they will be basically running on fumes until...mid february? with Puss doing poorly and I Wanna Dance/Babylon tanking. After an already weak 2022 and with how quiet the past few months have been, a poor christmas season on top of it is going to be a really hard blow for domestic theaters, and I wonder if we'll see some fallout from it.

Add in the danger of Marvel fatigue into the mix, and you have yourselves an industry on the brink of collapse.

Superhero fatigue has set a bit but not much. I imagine they're concern is much animation and mid budge movies aimed at adults pretty much collapsing aside from a .select few that did well, well enough or broke out. Stuff like Shang Chi, Batman, Strange, Thor did well enough DOM. And, with Black Adam... I mean, did many really expect much more than 175M DOM?

Maybe they're not making as much as hoped but you'd think stuff like Ant-Man can do 250M+ DOM. And, stuff like Guardians Vol. 3 350M+ DOM.... Flash could still okay. Then, there's stuff like Creed III, Wick 4, Transformers reboot, Indy 5, Spider-verse 2, MI 7, Barbie, Oppenheimer, The Marvels. I'd expect those to do all pretty well and hit or exceed their expected numbers.

It's a quality issue.

Top Gun 2 and No Way Home blew away expectations.

Both of these movies relied heavily on nostalgia porn and I feel I can say this about TG esp cos I never saw the first one and thought TG:M was just... fine.

La La Land's box office gross was amazing...to see it to do nearly $450m worldwide was phenomenal and it was one of the last few exciting box office runs for me.

That film did bizarrely well for being a musical where the leads couldnt sing or dance.

But how many quality blockbusters deserved 1.5 billion this year?
