Indy+insidious ~matching opp true FSS is, frankly, insane. Those shows ain’t gonna pay off, could have easily made more giving them to Barbie/opp/SoF/MI/Ele instead

Mission: Impossible should be fine after this weekend. No direct competition until like Equalizer 3. But yeah, the drop against Barbenheimer isn't going to be pretty.

There are contractual obligations for the first 2 weeks. In some cases, MI7 even has more screens & showtimes than Oppenheimer. Next weekend that’s gonna change.

Barbie was incredible. Might be my movie of the year depending on how Oppenheimer turns out in about 20 minutes from now.

 

More importantly, I don't think I've seen a theater this crowded here all year round up until now. It was just so full of life. And my screening for Barbie was bustling with people in pink. And the auditorium door was even accessorized in pink. This might be one of the best experiences I've ever head in moviegoing, and it probably won't get this good again for years, or even decades to come. So I advise everyone here to cherish this weekend, because the likes of it are unlikely to come again. Here's to hoping I see some big preview numbers for both of the big movies once my Oppenheimer show goes into intermission.

Blame Disney and Sony respectively, who mostly required full screens for Indy, Elemental and Insidious. (So none of the Ele/Insid splits I predicted last week)
