Sounds like the perfect job for Peyton Reed lol. Honestly these big studios basically transformed into factories during mid / late 2010s and last year it became obvious a big part of audience had enough so what's the logic behind pushing a project like this one? They're lowering value of their top brands like there's no tomorrow and really that's how suits treat studio bussiness these days. Just deliver products and who cares how the biz looks like five years from now.

Uh, factories were pretty much what they were during the GOlden Age of Hollywood, frm the 1920' to the early 1950'.

David Leitch is hardly someone who could be classified as an auteur, so the fact that he wasn’t willing to take the job seems like a pretty damning indictment about what a cynical corporate product this thing is.

You reallly expect a film about dinosaurs chasing people to be anything  else?

JP and JW are the only Jrrassic films I actually liked, but the franchise is gold mine of Universal.

And you want a world where the people don't have a voice in what entertanment they are offered and few bureuacrats of self proclaimed "artists" decide what the public will see?

SOme people seem to want to blame Capitalism for every thing wrong in the world.

Universal doesn't have a big franchise tentpole for the year, which is probably going to be dominated by Disney and Warner Bros.

Thios, Uni needs a tentpole for 2025 in a Hurry, and the JP franchise seems the best bet to get that done.

It is not like you  have to come up with a really clever plot......just get dinos chasing people, and the audeinces will come.

And now that this has lost its director, do you think it's keeping the date?

JJ Abrams waiting desperately for the phone call to direct this.

Funnily enough Jeff Sneider also presented him as an option.

Speaking of Sneider, he claimed on his most recent podcast that apparently David Leitch was actually let go by Amblin rather than just leaving like the trades implied. And the reason for that is that his producing partner Kelly McCormick wasn't happy with the budget presented and tried to meddle with it. And the producers weren't happy with that.

He also dropped a bonus tidbit regarding why Legendary didn't return to finance Dominion. Apparently shortly after the first Jurassic World they tried to pitch a spinoff movie to the Amblin suits. They didn't like that, and subsequently let them go from the franchise (and possibly even burned their bridge with Universal).

Make of these what you will.

Well, Litch was never actually signed as director, so technically they never lost it's director.

Depends on how fast they find a director. if they go for a "Jouneyman" director and forget about a  big name director, they can  get a director in place pretty fast.

He has a deal with WB and is producing his own dinosaur movie with them.

I doubt that. Abrams is in trouble with WB since he failed to deliver a couple of TV projects on time. I doubt he iwll be doing any big projects ar WB for a while.

He won't get if, given the time factor and Abrams simply does not work fast.

Which has gotten him into troubel with WB when he did not deliver a couple of TV projects when scheduled.
