@leoh I defended you last time, but your strawmanning over users overpredicting Dune is no longer amusing and is just derailing the thread, making everything worse for others. Please end all this right here.

And frankly, we're done with this whole concern trolling a lot of you are doing over Dune 2. I don't know why this is the movie you decided to do it with, but it's not leading to anything productive or bearable for others who just want to enjoy talking about the movie's box office. Please cool it on the hyperbole.

FYI for those interested the live feed thread for the Oscars tonight is now open. Only about 6.5 hours away (about an hour before that for when the stars start walking the red carpet)!

Or if a certain someone is trying to will that non-existing narrative into existence.

Yes but i dont think the vast majority here is falling for or following that narrative. I would think nearly all of us are just happy how Dune 2 has performed so far.

And im also on the 300M DOM is still possible train. A lot of it depends on Dune's drops as soon as it looses its PLF screens.

Anyways, what a great weekend for the box office. And with a nice collection of different movies doing well too

Indeed, a 13% increase from March 2023

hope movies can keep over performing, theaters are urgently needing this.

:D

It looks like Dune is keeping some big true IMAXes like Lincoln Square when Ghostbusters opens, like how Oppenheimer kept the biggest IMAXes when Blue Beetle opened.

It seems Dune will keep those seventeen 70mm IMAX halls (like Lincoln Square, Universal, Chinese Theater etc) for many weeks, even when GxK is out. It makes sense since none of the coming movies will be available in IMAX 70mm format.

March deja vu continues the good thing is the big movies are opening higher vs March 2023.  Bad news the February hold-overs are a non factor.

Smaller films that had wide releases in March....65 opened to 12.3m vs Imaginary 10m.  His Only Son opened to 5.5m vs Cabrini 7.5m.  March 2023 also had Champions which opened to 5m and Demon Slayer 10m.  None of these movies made much which is going to be similar to March 2024 smaller films.

Last year, the 3rd weekend in March had Shazam! opening to 30m and Scream and Creed 3 combining for 32m.

Dune and Panda should match that next weekend.  The new Marky Mark movie probably makes 10-15m everything else under 5m. The 3rd weekend in March should be a wash with the 3rd weekend in March 2023.

Again with the estimated 30% Sunday drop. That should go up a little bit. I'm still betting on a number closer to $47M for Dune.

$250M looks good and $300M remains alive, if slightly. Either way, above mine and most everyone else's expectations. Great.

She sounds like an entitled brat. She only has her blunt and straightforward personality because she's a nepo baby and won't worry about risking her career when she says things like that. It's not like she's getting abused on set or anything. She chose this project because of the money lol

This is dangerously innacurate shit. Even Gwyneth Paltrow and Asia Argento were preyed upon by the likes of Weinstein so it's not like nepotism is guaranteed safety against harassment. Both of Dakota's grandmother and mother were treated like garbage by the industry. She doesn't really need to put up a fake pretense of being "grateful" for being cast in uninspired duds like Madame Web. She has already made bank thanks to the 50 Shades franchise. Robert Pattinson broke out due to Twilight and that didn't stop him from dunking on the films while they were still coming out but he wasn't hated on for it.
