I'm thinking if it does less than $4m for Thurs or more than $8m we're looking at something outside the expected range (70-85).  Rogue Nation did $4m and $55.5m so my gut says 5-7m for this should bring result in the expected range of 70-85m for the weekend.

The RT ratings of Spectre is very interesting here. It's more of a debatable opinion.

 

It's still at 63%, critics-wise and at 73%, audience-wise. Which equals to "Well, it's not that great.....but it's not that bad either." kinda opinion.

 

It's kinda like the "Indy 4: KOTCS" of Craig's Bond franchise. The fourthquel starring a popular and iconic character, which may be a mixed bag for some people.

The 73% audience rating is very bad after only 2 weeks.

I find that averaging the critic score with the audience score usually falls in line with my opinion.

 

There are exceptions of course.

I imagine Bond 25 won't be until 2018 at the earliest since they'll need to find a new director and also Craig will be doing a play next year as well.

Christopher McQuarrie could work very well as a director for the next Bond film. He did a great job on Jack Reacher & MI5, so having him doing another spy/action flick won't be hard.

Just came back from the movie and honestly am pretty disappointed with the script. The way it was shot was great, but substance? They dropped that on one of the many scrip rewrites apparently, where they also left the consistency of some of the characters. Acting was great from almost everybody, but what they were given to work with, not so much. C+ from me. And I was really looking forward to this one. My hope is now with TFA. Hope that one comes out ok at least.

AVTAK is the worst Bond movie...and Moore being way too old for the role is only part of what makes it;s bad.

Walken is sort of fun as the villian, but other then that a total bust.

 

Hey, folks, it was never in the books for this to get the kind of final numbers that SKYFALL did. SPECTRE will still make a ton of money for Eon. Though they should take a look at keeping the next one from costing so much;letting films go way overubudget, even if you get away with it, is not a good habit to get into.

Haven't all of Craig's Bonds felt that way though? At the end of Casino Royale, we felt "He is James Bond now, next movie we can get his proper adventures", at the end of QoS - " Well, he has wrapped up the storyline from CR, he is now fully James Bond and next movie we get the traditional Bond adventures", after Skyfall - "The movie was great and we have the full Bond team assembled. He is now full and complete James Bond". If SPECTRE does something similar, it will be 4 for 4

Nah, they were locked into the contract. Craig got a bonus,probably,and Mendes got a much better deal (since he was only signed for one film) but not enough to send SPECTRE's budget over the top as much as it did. Apparenly it was just that the shoot proved to be much,much,more expensive then predicted.

 

The thing to watch with SPECTE is not so much the opening weekend...great marketing..and the marketing has been great...can bring you that with a proven product like Bond,but the legs. That is where the mixed reaction we are getting from WOM could hurt it.
