doublejack
Not true at all. Avengers is more a comic movie than a family movieSorry, but you could not be more incorrect on this. Avengers is way more of a family film than MIB3. That it is based on a comic is irrelevant. You are also wrong about estimates for Avengers. The are low rather than high, in general. lilmac
THG is still in the top 10, after all these weeks. Amazing. Good hold for TA, about as expected. MIB3 did poorly considering the budget. However OS grosses could mitigate the losses. The movie needs over $650m to break even but it will come $200m short. Still, home video, cable/tv rights, and other miscellaneous streams should cover the shortfall. I'd be surprised if a MIB4 is in the cards. I'd say you're looking at at least a couple years before its profitable, if ever.

filmscholar
70 Million was my low end expectations, I was hoping for 80-90 Million but that is not a bad number at all. When you considered the The Avengers is just eating everything and everyone alive, it dug in to some of Will's box office for sure. Without the Avengers This makes 10 or 15 million more in my view. So Will is back on Top, MIB 3 will be his 13th 100 Million Dollar film and he's done this since ID4 - 96 to MIB 3-12. That's 16 Years. So again bravo to TA, it's just a monster. Claps for HG also, I mean it's not giving up till that big 400.

There was definitely a lot of potential movie coin left on the table this weekend. Personally, I think you can go back a decade and blame it on MIB2 more than competition from TA.
