lab276
WTF? Go look at the next weekend. Everything had normal holds, several movies even had good or great holds. So what in the blue hell are you talking about me making no sense? It could just be down to the films having no appeal, but something has to be said for August just barely crossing 100m admissions (how it's looking right now). It'll be the worst August in over 15 years.
MrPink
Can't be bother atm working it out prob around 3 markThanks. So about 50% increase? redfirebird2008
Thanks. So about 50% increase? Lower than what I was hoping for but it should pull 10.5 million or something.Judging by my theater, I'm guessing its screencount is getting hammered this weekend. It only has 3 shows per day now here. Last weekend it still had around 6 or 7 I think.

MovieMan89
There was nothing wrong with my expectations. I always admit when I'm wrong. There are enormous piles of evidence that overwhelmingly support that the entire box office climate was massively hurt from the shootings. You mean like how great the holdovers in general have held since then? Yeah that sure sounds like a great piece of evidence to me!

It'll be the worst August in over 15 years. Bingo. Who wants to see a Colin Farrel, Z list studded remake of Total Recall, or a Bourne without Jason Bourne and hardly any action? Ooh and Diary of a Wimpy Kid 3, that oughta whip the general audiences into a ticket buying frenzy! The only movie that should have had a lot of appeal this month was TE2, and honestly I am surprised at it disappointing like this. But high profile movies disappoint all the time. It's part of the box office. Doesn't mean we should start using a tragedy to explain it. Hey while we're at it lets blame 9/11 for any box office slumps! I'm sure there can be some connection found there.

MovieMan89
wow...you are just making yourself look dumber and dumber the more you post about this. How about instead of just insulting me you actually give me some intelligent argument and evidence for why you really think there's still a huge impact on the BO from the tragedy? I'm giving plenty of evidence for why there's not and all you're doing is name calling. Real intelligent. Gopher
Quick note see how it looks later but Exp2 10-11m, BL 4.5-4.8,Para 4-4.5, Spar 4.2-4.6That's seriously bad for everything. Bourne is going to drop 60% even though Expendables underperformed. Paranorman/Sparkle will struggle to open to 10m. No summer will ever start with such a bang, and no summer will ever end with such a fizzle.

I said I wouldn't be surprised to see some of you start using that tragedy too in some entirely fact less and stupid manner like you're using this one. keysersoze123
10M for expendables is awful. it will probably make around 26M weekend and around 70M domestic finish. 11M will ensure 75M finish.
