2B+ for a romcom is crazy.

If an import in Dangal could do 1b+, then a Chinese rom-com doing 2b+ doesn't surprise me (both those are rare events as it is). By 2025 we should surely have a 10b+ Chinese movie ($1.5-1.6b+ usd with today's ER) I guess. . Wolf Warrior 2 did 5.5b+ so 2x that for a rare movie in 7 years seems legit.

Coco's run is simply amazing. Seven weeks after it's release it's still hanging over there. It made over 10x it's OW, an amazing achievement. I love China box office, even when u get disapointed by some results (Guardiand of the Galazy 2)

yep, I think it made around 350M RMB or so in 1998, which is crazy considering the size of the Chinese market back then!

4 and a half years actually. Transformers 4 took the record in summer 2014. Avatar did triple the gross of the prior record holder, which was pretty impressive.

here's the thing...for the sake of china box office...can there be a coco2? i haven't seen coco so don't know if the story can lend itself to a sequel.
