Thank you. I think some are thinking because it had a solid hold this weekend it will do great next as well which isn't a lock. This market is tough.

Normally you're right, but theaters are so empty now and it won't drop hard unless people suddenly hate going to cinema next weekend... And that's part of the reason it had a good drop this weekend.

Yes. They've been extending a lot of movies with lesser dailies.  Not sure why. Its not close to TWE.  It has nothing to do with the trade war, they are giving July releases this year to fill the theaters, admissions are down this year.

I wonder would chinese movie theaters cancel the show if only one of two tickets sold? Or if no one shows up.

normally the show is not cancelled if at least one person shows up. if there is no one, the it cancels.

Detective Pikachu $17,8M / $69.8 million

Dogs journey 10.3 million

Endgame  $7. 7M / $625,3M

Is this for the weekend?? Seems like a 55-56% drop for Pikachu if so.

MON could be more like a holiday because of May.20 (520 sounds like I Love You in Chinese).

not really. 520 is just another lame excuse for lovers to hang out.

What goes on on May 20th?

consider it another V day

So here is the big difference between NA cinema market and China cinema market: in NA, movie going is mostly driven by friends group watching and families wherease in China it is by young couples/love birds, which leads to much bigger Friday box office increases and much better performance from family films and toons in NA, and essentially every holiday in China plays out  like a V day at the box office. You find as many as 10 V days with a calendar year in CBO driven by young couples.
