Descendants wins the weekend. 1.222m from 29 sites gives it the record of breaking into the top 10 with the lowest theater count (29). It's setting itself up for a long, healthy run. Number-wise that's a great result for Breaking Dawn. It failed to reach NM despite 2 years of inflation, but I doubt anyone could care.

Yeah, Twilight just performs in its set range, much like Potter had been doing until Deathly Hallows II. And honestly, after DH2 did what it did in July, this isn't even interesting at all. It just feels so typical.Glad that Potter wins the year: midnight, opening day, opening weekend, domestically, internationally, and worldwide. I'm so proud of Potter....and yes, I hijacked a Twilight thread to discuss Potter. Noctis isn't the only one who can.

139M... thats it? Wow, I would've thought it would've gotten bigger. Hmm... hopes for 300M are now very, very slim, knowing this franchises frontloadedness.

You really should have more faith in the Twilight fans, I've been to see it again today and loved it even more. Nearly everybody in the queue was seeing it for the first time and the anticipation was palpable. I think it's the best one yet. :)

HF2 bombed hard, it didn't just simply flop. I saw way more advertising for this than BD1.Anyway, with $139.5m, it should become very interesting to see where this will be heading. On the bright side, this doesn't have much competition (not nearly as much New Moon).

With 139 mill, i think this will have good WOM and it will challenge for 300. I'm still not sure if it will get there but I enjoyed it more the second time. If it follows NM's multiplier, it will hit 290. Anything over 290 will be fantastic. Actually, any number it hits from here out is fantastic. This is a very consistent franchise. I'm thrilled with the numbers.
