Weekend Numbers | 19.4 M FATE OF THE FURIOUS | 12 M HOW TO BE LATIN LOVER | 10.1 M BAAHUBALI II | 9.3 M THE CIRCLE

Recommended Posts

How To Be A Latin Lover had a bigger OW than Unforgettable and The Promise combined, Baahubali over 10M despite having a ridiculously frontloaded OD and The Circle not even reaching 10M  Could this weekend have been more unpredictable?

Alright debut for GOTG V2. Though Portugal being one of the few where it didn't open at #1 proves, once again, how desperately Disney needs to improve their marketing.

Have you ever been to the Cinerama in Seattle?

My favorite cinema experience in the US and they are digital I think.

Never been to the Seattle Cinerama, but I've been to the Arclight Hollywood Dome several times (which is the other Cinerama Dome). They have a Christie 6p laser projector but they still have their 70mm equipment for special runs. (We had a BOT meet-up to see KONG in 70mm there, although it was just at the Arclight, not the Dome specifically).

If we ever make a movie...I want the premiere at Seattle Cinerama...

That's why Tarantino was pissed that Disney had the dome when he was releasing Hateful Eight (and the screen size).  But seriously, the dome wasn't going to be used for a western when The Force Awakens was coming out.

Get Out is currently at $193m WW, with 7 main markets to be released, it may end at $250m WW on a $4m budget. I'm pretty sure it will be at the top 10 of most profitable movies of the year, maybe even top 5. Split and IT will probably join the top 20 as well. Just for your information, The Conjuring 2 was the fourth most profitable movie for Warner last year (almost beating BVS), while Don't Breathe was the second most profitable for Sony, and The Purge 3 was the third one for Uni.

Really hard to believe that a movie like that (with a giant big name director coming back, returning writers and so on) gave only 6 million of is 280 million revenue in participation bonus.......... 2.15% ?

Would not surprise me that this was Wan producing fee, not is writing pts + directing pts + producing pts. One thing is for sure all is bonus that were conditional on how much Furious 7 would do kicked in.

Why would CONJURING contracts be conditionally based on what FURIOUS 7 did?

It seem to be common when a deal is struck with a director has a movie on the way to have conditional close on how big it would be, because obviously if Wan wait for Furious 7 to open before doing is next movie he could potentially make much more than signing in 2014 on a Conjuring sequel.

Lot of writer/director leaked contract with the Sony leak had clause like those, if you movie yet to be released do X, your bonus goes from 4% CB0 to 6.5%, etc...

Fast & Furious is kinda like Star Wars in Portugal and GoTG Vol 2 still improved over the first movie in Portugal. Also Disney marketing is fine.

Who was talking about the Australia to USA OW conversion ratio a while back? Wasn't it like 12 to 1 or something?

Due to the 6 Day, it's harder to predict. Both @DeeCee and @JJ-8 think $150M+ is possible.

This one is hard to quantify as it had an extended 6.5 day opening with no comps for similar calendar configs. Possibly 135-155 or so sounds right.

Portugal is like the Delaware of the EU population wise, quit obsessing over it. It isn't China and can't save a bomb or power a hit. Irrelevant!
