AMPAS hire a former porn producer as exec, Nikki Finke is outraged

She comes across as such a prude. Michael Bay started out directing porn (not exactly shocking when you think about it), Channing Tatum was a stripper, the director of the live-action Inspector Gadget started his career directing porn. Porn is a good starting point for behind the scenes work because you can start with a higher profile job than you would if you worked on Hollywood films.

I myself currently edit porn films/videos for a living.

Care to source that? :rotfl:

That's hilarious -- though a Video Centerfold video is about as softcore as it gets.

Wes Craven also worked in the porn industry early in his career. One year after Last House on the Left he did an X-rated porn film, working as Editor and Assistant Director. And actor wise, Stallone and Cameron Diaz both did pornography before hitting it big in Hollywood.

I was aware of Stallone, not Diaz.

In terms of stigma, I don't think anyone in Hollywood particularly cares, since what matters is whether you can do your job or not. Probably the bigger hurdle is that porn is essentially the corporate/industrial world, and there's a significant leap from that to film or TV (unless you're just talking PA work).

The thing that makes me laugh about North America and it's aversion to sex is that last time I checked, porn is legal.  People like to watch other people have sex.  It shouldn't be that big a deal.  But we all pretend none of us watch, jerk off, have sex or think about it.

Big fucking deal if they hired a porn star.

It says a lot about our world when people getting killed and slaughtered is seen as completely normal, yet something as natural as sex becomes a big deal. Fucking ridiculous. There's nothing wrong with sexual expression.
