Oh and it seems like Stallone will get some Oscar buzz for this, which is well deserved. His performance was the clear highlight of the movie.

One More Week.  My Rocky Marathon starts this weekend.  Can't wait to go down memory lane.  I was going to omit Rocky V and VI because I wanted "Rocky IV" to bridge into Creed since that's when Apollo died but I'm feeling Nostaligic for the whole series.  Year of Nostaliga Continues:

I've only seen the first Rocky. I've heard that I should watch Rocky Balboa before I see Creed, but say I only had time to watch one of the Rocky sequels, which one should I go for?

If just one, probably Rocky Balboa. If you can fit in another, 2, then Balboa.

Rocky was the best one. 

Rocky 3, unfairly maligned by some, is over-the-top brilliance. The bun can't hold that cheeseburger and it is glorious.

I would have also said Rocky Balboa or Rocky 2. You should at least see the rematch at the end of Rocky 2. But Rocky IV would also help.

 

Still (or again) 86% at Rotten Tomatoes (but 12 fresh and two rotten make 88%, no?). Hope the 100% from Hitfix and the 91% from E. Kohn (Indiewire) are counted too. Surprisingly good so far.

 

BOM says the theater count is 3,350+ (Rocky Balboa had 3,017).

Who are in the running for Supporting Actor right now? Last year, the field was so awful that Robert Duvall made the nominees list for every single award and there was no plausible contender to replace him.

Right now the Top 5 looks to be one or two from Spotlight (Keaton or Ruffalo), Stallone, Mark Rylance, then sight unseens with someone from H8ful, Robert De Niro or Tom Hardy for the last 1-2.
