narniadis
Rather bland weekend in retrospect we got spoiled by the last couple of years (NM/Blind Side then HP7/Tangled) being massive with a runaway hit......
Travod
Ah, just got back from The Artist. Sold out. It should do well
Kevin Bacon
Breaking Dawn is oscar material in comparison to some of the other "blockbusters" that have come out this year.I honestly can't think of what other blockbuster you're talking about, except MAYBE Transformers. MrWhoopee
If I'm not mistaken didn't transformers get better reviews than Breaking Dawn?
Ithil
Why is there an obsession with it making 300? Fourth movies usually lose business and they certianly don't increase from the last one. A 8% drop is likely and if it makes more than 280, that would be quite good.I don't know why there is. People like magic rounded numbers or something. MrWhoopee
4th movies usually lose business correct but Goblet increases over azkaban making that for certain become a usually as well
John Marston
I think Goblet of Fire increased because it released in the same year as the sixth book, resulting in HP mania
kayumanggi
Or maybe the audience just really enjoyed the 4th movie.
4815162342
Because Chamber of Secrets and Azkaban had progressively decreased, it isn't surprising that Goblet of Fire would then have spiked back upwards significantly in the direction of Sorcerer Stone numbers in the wake of continuing good WOM from Azkaban's DVD release and Goblet looking very promising in its marketing. kayumanggi
I think the audience also enjoyed the idea of the Tri-Wizard cup.
Ariadne
Great bump for BD1, hopefully it continues to compare favourably to NM over the weekend to make up a bit for a disappointing Wed/Thu.
Jawa
I think Goblet of Fire increased because it released in the same year as the sixth book, resulting in HP maniaI always thought the draw for Goblet of Fire was that the "kids" were all starting to grow up. That's how it seemed at the time, anyway. It helps that the book was probably the most popular in the series before Deathly Hallows.
druv10
No doubt about Tri wizard cup. It brought in casual fans. Edited November 27, 2011 by druv10

fishstick
Great bump for BD1, hopefully it continues to compare favourably to NM over the weekend to make up a bit for a disappointing Wed/Thu.I think $300 mio is still in the cards. Holiday season will continue in December and it`s lucrative for everyone, new stuff and holdovers.

Ball Lightning
Yes it's holidays, but why does that mean it'll have better legs than NM which was at the same time period.. Especially after it had worse legs on wednesday and thursday..
