keysersoze123
Sony reports $725K from Thursday evening shows for #Carrie. That's a strong start. Fall hit #Gravity heads into 3rd wknd w/ $139.5M. On course to beat summer smashes WorldWarZ, StarTrek & Fast&Furious6!

keysersoze123
I am sure Gravity will increase lot more this friday than last one. So 30M+ weekend should happen. And we will see close fight for #1 with Carrie.

LexJoker
Decent number for Carrie. There is appeal for this movie among the young audience who haven't watched the original.
stripe
Horror movies usually do strong numbers in previews. 725k is good but not spectacular. Captain Phillips (a less frontloaded movie) made 600k in previews last weekend and grossed 26M OW. Carrie won't do that well. 20-25M OW IMHO

Gopher
Yeah, I don't see how Carrie catches up to Gravity this weekend. It might only do 20m or so.

Fancyarcher
Midnight numbers are pretty useless at this point.
baumer
I think its funny that some if u say it will "only do 25 mill". Thats a pretty good number imo. I dont see anything wrong with it.
narniadis
Good numbers - Carrie is in good shape over 20m an will play well through next week since there are no other horror pics. Stupid studios

babz06
Good numbers for Carrie. I think people tend to underestimate horror films, Again it's the only one being released in October, that greatly helps it. 25-28M opening. Which is a great number. Grravity should hold onto number 1 though, with a 30-32M third weekend. Pretty close with Carrie. Edited October 18, 2013 by babz06
Founder / Operator Shawn Robbins Posted October 18, 2013 Founder / Operator Share Posted October 18, 2013 Thinking $30.5-31m weekend for Gravity. Could go higher but would rather stay conservative for the time being. Think I may have overshot Carrie a bit, but we'll see. May be more backloaded to next weekend because of the gap between now and Halloween. Anything over $25m would be great, though.
Cmasterclay
25 million for Carrie would be awesome considering the middling marketing and lacking buzz. Really benefited from the empty horror market. Imagine what Insidious 2 could have done as the only horror film two weeks from Halloween.
kitik
That's not a huge number for Carrie. Anyone who was thinking 30M better get their hopes down now.
