redfirebird2008
People forget about the Aurora shootings. Maybe it has effected midnight business for all movies now. Or maybe it's November when high school and college kids are still in school. $25m in previews during school time is really damn good.
Lordmandeep
Its a great number but even with 55 million Friday and 58 million Sat 180 million is not happening. However Im3 is some danger yet.
kells
@NikkiFinke 11m Lionsgate very excited about 28% growth for 'Catching Fire' late shows vs first 'Hunger Games' late shows. Bodes well for humongous weekend. Am I the only one who always side-eyed the BD1/2 numbers? The way they both just BARELY edged out the previous installment reeked of studio fudging the numbers for "Record Breaking!" headlines.
Punishment
Nikki Finke @NikkiFinke 11m IMAX theaters also up 28% for 'Catching Fire' late shows vs first 'Hunger Games' late shows - and is saying ran out of seats!

Lordmandeep
So is the movie on track to beat IM3 opening weekend? Um I would say that its looking more on the high end for now. 178 seems to be max now.
filmnerdjamie
Hunger Games did $19M midnight. Catching Fire does $25M with Thursday night (including double-feature screening) and midnight. It's nothing to piss on. But... I expected higher given the added awareness, Lawrence's mega-stardom and prime November date. Just saying!
Fake
Midnights numbers are inconsequential for a movie's rest of the run. 25m or 30m in midnights would just be 5m difference in final total. Only significance they have is the part they play in breaking OD/OW records etc. Most important number would be the Friday business minus midnights. Any guesses? Hatebox
I wish this film the best, but are 8pm Thursday showings counting towards the Friday? Because that's patently ridiculous..
