Just look at last year. The only movies that dropped under 50% on the 2nd were the ones that made under 2m on New Year's Day.

Last year Jan 2 was a Wednesday which is generally a down day to begin BO wise. I'm expecting 30-35% drop today for Frozen.

Lol, that's not really "friendly." How about I have to deck my avi and sig out in Frozen imagery if you win, and you have to do yours in DM2 stuff if I win?

Deal, just also add I was wrong about Frozen in your sig.

Last year the 2nd was on a Wednesday after a discount Tuesday boost in a addition to the New Years Day boost. Frozen had a smaller decrease on Tuesday thanks to that and a muted Wednesday jump. It's not dropping 50% today.

Discount Tuesdays usually deflate Wednesday so Thursday tend to have better drops compared to Wednesday.

It might have smaller drop but its generally the weakest day of the week, so it could have the opposite effect

How do we even know discount Tuesday were in effect this week cause of the Holidays? I know the theaters around here don't do any discount stuff like that during the Xmas and New Years weeks.

You may be right but I still expect a good hold today so do we've deal.

I don't know any theaters that do it either (I think it's mostly Canada) but if you haven't noticed the daily grosses over the year it definitely makes a difference and I seriously don't think they would stop such a big day for the holidays.

At a glance the movies are following 2002 type New Years daily holds/jumps. Unlike Christmas week. So a fall in the 30's for Frozen would be my guess. SMB will probably fall in the low 40's
