Assuming that Way of Water plays anything like its predecessor, I don't think Disney needs to go all-out on all the marketing… awareness now seems pretty strong and anyway, this isn't a movie engineered to smash opening records. It's a movie engineered to dazzle anyone who sees it in a theater and generate ridiculously strong word of mouth. The theatrical experience of Way of Water, with the level of care put into things like shot construction and visual polish (and, yes, 3D) should blow the competition completely out of the water and lead to strong repeat business/word-of-mouth.

Word is Cameron was responsible for Chapek's ousting. ;)

Are you joking or have you actually heard that? Because if it's true its funny AND deserved. Imagine trying to get in the way of James "Iron Jim" Cameron

Just was about to say this after I saw it on D+. No HFR either. Boooo

It sucks, however I actually it's not won't effect the movies performance. On first glance it looks like it will hurt it, but honestly the jump up in quality from 1080p to Avatar 2 in 4k 3D will be more mindblowing. You don't actually want people thinking they can experience the movie in a quality close to cinema from their home. Release the 4k version in feb or march
