Prove me wrong (you can't)

I’ll prove you right. Here’s a handy chart showing the relative impressiveness of the last 4 WW unadjusted all-timers (assuming EG makes it):

E557-BA31-935-F-4-E6-F-976-D-3-C1222-E1-

Really shows off Titanic’s immense accomplishment.

Methodology: Use the top 10 films in the year that film was released and compare the ratio between the WW champion and the top 10 average BO that year.

If that means Exchange Rates, that's absolutely false.

Anyway, it's funny how cameronites now spin any thing they can bring on the table to diminish the probable surpassing of EG to A, when some weeks ago them all were happily being sarcastic and mocking MCU fans about EG not reaching A ww ... it's a matter of time, sooner than later EG will be #1 ww.

You know whats more funny. After the insane ow when every cameron hater was mocking avatar/cameron fans. And after they realized that eg wont beat avatar they all disappeard ( except cdsacken, he was holding the ground). Then after feige and disney announced a re-release suddenly all the mcu hype fans appeard again wirh a big mouth. You see the difference? Avatar fans holding their ground no matter what. Those are real fans and not those wannabe hypetrain fans.

You do have a good point about Cameron fans, though imo it is kind of a double-edged sword. Their fan craziness is permanent while those Marvel fans were temporary. But I do admire the passion.

This is actually a pretty good way to compare movies and eras.  Would be best to analyze over a 3 year period (I.E. 2008-2009-2010 for Avatar).  Although this would would mean not having a final picture for a current movie (Endgame) after 12-18 months.

It's ok. Jurassic Park isn't more impressive to anyone else however which makes the analysis look really skewed against End Game.

Jurassic Park is below adjusted inflation domestically but it's close. Internationally it's a joke, not even close. 1.3 adjusted overseas vs 1.925. It's not even close unless you deliberately skew the data.

How did you get that number? To adjust OS numbers would be a herculian task. Not to forget ERs. Plus you have to take into account huge market expansion.

No matter how you adjust it, it's not gonna magically account for 625m. It's not gonna go from 625 to 1.925b no matter what calculation you use unless you lie

China expansion alone could account for 625m.

Why are you overlooking the internation market size from back then? Films simply didn't make the same money they do now overseas.

I wouldn't write off Jurassic Park without doing any analysis what so ever cdsacked

not really hard to take a quick look at something.

Calling it trolling to suggest "Jurassic Park is more impressive than EG" is trolling in itself

forgive the two sets of 2003 i whipped this up real quick and easy, a quick look at the overseas size in the top grossers since jurassic park.

we're in a completely different era of filmaking, we're in the damn franchise era.

@cdsacken

There are a couple "problems" with your analysis.

1 - EG is nowhere to be found as the year is not over, but it's safe to say it will not secure 30% of the top 10 OS in 2019 considering it is currently at 32,5% and several movies will pass Godzilla, Alita, How To Train Your Dragon and Pokemon in the months to come.

2 - Your JP #s include the 2013 3D re-release (71M$)  - Would lower the % from 32 to 29,5.

Otherwise - still shows that JP crushed the market compared to releases from 1993.

valid points.

goal of the post was simply to show that suggesting jurassic park was more impressive than EG isn't trolling
