No. He's way too involved in Power Rangers lore. Casting unknowns and actors uninvolved with the fandom is the best way to go.

I didn't like her acting all all; just too forced.  JVDB was really good, though.  A more adult take on Power Rangers could definitely work, but not something so grim or else it'll end up being a B movie.

Israelite is an up-and-coming filmmaker who is a huge fan of the franchise and aims to bring a fresh voice to the property. He has been courted for several tentpoles around Hollywood since but he has turned them all down while waiting for the right one.

I actually like this news. I did enjoy Project Almanac quite a bit, it was definitely a "fun" movie, and I would like to see what Isrealite can do with a bigger budget.

Project Almanac exists just to capitalize Chronicle's success, so I see no reason why they shouldn't hire the same guy to direct an adaptation that exists to capitalize on the new TMNT's success.
