DAJK
Paramount is NOT doing well lol. Gemini Man will lose them almost 100M. Dark Fate doesn't look to be faring too well overseas. And now this. Mission Impossible 8 can't come fast enough.

WittyUsername
Paramount does still have their partnership with Hasbro (assuming Disney isn’t planning on buying the damn company), so there’s that.

Great marketing strategy. This is nothing like Aladdin. Video game movies don't do big numbers and the movie surrounding Sonic still looks awful. And Paramount ain't Disney. Maybe Spongebob 3 can help but that seems like a big drop.

The movie reportedly cost $90 million before, so now it must cost over $100 million. This could end up being yet another big budget flop for Paramount. I don’t think so. What could help this is people, even the online gamergate community turning out for the movie thanks to the redesign being positively received, along with the PG rating (which is an advantage for it against R-rated fare like Birds of Prey and The King’s Man) and the Valentine’s Day Weekend release which also includes President’s Day as well. Plus, it could get a boost at the Super Bowl with one more ad/trailer. And, boys will likely wanna take their girlfriends to see a bad movie like this just to get blowjobs. So, I do think this will be a good thing for the movie.

Movies4Life
Here are my reasons why I think Sonic The Hedgehog will benefit from the new February 14th, 2020 date: 1. No kid-friendly competition for 3 weeks until Disney and Pixar’s Onward 2. The PG-rating will help the movie stand out against the R-rated fare of Birds of Prey 3. The positive response to Sonic’s new design being more faithful to how he looks in the video games and cartoons getting more audiences to go see it, especially the GamerGate crowd who wants video game movie adaptations done right. 4. Jim Carrey and Ben Schwartz as Doctor Robotnik and Sonic making the movie work in everyone’s minds. 5. China, because even if the budget was inflated because of redesigning Sonic from $90M to say maybe $120-$150M, they could still bank on China to save it and help it be a small hit like Bumblebee. 6. The GA could turnout for this movie out of curiosity, a la Aladdin. Let’s hope we get the new trailer this week, in time to play with Paramount’s Playing With Fire. YM!
Sonic is way less popular to kids than Pokémon nowadays. Doing half of PDP is good for it.
