AJG
Deadline have removed the silly comparison to Sonic from their article. Clifford is still being released by EOne in the U.K. and Canada so I doubt Paramount can change a thing.
CJohn
Paramount doesn't want to change anything. This is just fear of the Delta variant and its effects at the box office. This is the first of many movies that will be delayed from the Fall. We mentioned this on last week's weekend thread. 1

Yeah, the writing's slowly manifesting itself onto the wall. Dune and Matrix 4 are the only major movies that are definitely staying where they are thanks to HBO Max. Everything else is not safe anymore. The one silver lining to, say, No Way Home moving to 2022 is that it'll coincide with the Spider-Man character's 60th anniversary, Tobey!Spidey's 20th and Andrew!Spidey's 10th. And there's also Spider-Verse 2 set for that year. An epic anniversary celebration with both the next big live action Spidey epic (3 live-action Spider-Men all coming together to celebrate 60 years of an iconic hero just writes itself) and the sequel to one of the most beloved capefilms of all time sounds enticing and could make up for the delay.

I agree...the trailer screams "low opener" no matter where it's on the schedule, so Delta/no Delta doesn't really matter...it's just the face saving excuse...that said, it doesn't look bad per se, it just looks like nothing I'd see anyone going out of their way to go see... Yandereprime101189
If the Delta virus really is the case, get ready for all kinds of films to do the same, leading once again to the closing of theaters and having them reopen in an even worse situation. This is literally why so many studios have been pushing their streaming services. Much as NATO complains, it's not really the studios that are hurting them. . .i
Yandereprime101189
Also, the Deadline article for some reason believes early tracking for the film was in the low 90s?!? Do they seriously think Clifford is gonna hit 90 milliion?!?

Ask anyone foreign about it and they'll likely ask "Who?".

Well, at first glance, when you first read the article while you're in a hurry to comment and leave for work - It didn't read like that . . . 😛 Deadline is known to pull numbers out their ass.
