A handful of movies that are released in wide release don't make the list for eligibility at the end of the year each year and this one (Friend Request, not Kingsman lmao) is from an unproven studio so probably not.

That 5.9/10 average rating portends a rotten score.

Some movies do manage to escape, eg: DM3 is barely fresh at 61% with 5.7/10 even as Minions is rotten at 56% with 5.8/10. And with a similar 5.5/10 Cars 2 is just at 39%.

 

Kingsman1 is 6.7/10 and 74%. Guessing 55-65% for Kingsman2.

 

But to be clear I don't think this will have any impact on box office whatsoever. Hitman's Bodyguard is at 38% and has done very well.

GOTG2 managed 2.65x+ despite a mammoth increase in OW (+55%...94.3=>146.5) in part due to the summer-kickoff release date.

 

Apes is a better example of good legs despite sequelitis. Rise did 3.26x and Dawn did 2.87x after a 30%+ bump from Rise's OW.

 

So Kingsman2, which is not expected to show a 50-55% bump from Kingsman1's ow, actually has the potential for a 2.8-3.0x multiplier even after factoring in sequelitis compared to 3.54x of Kingsman1.

 

Dawn of Apes like 30% bump from predecessor's ow gives 47m to Kingsman2. So at 40-45m ow if it falls much below 2.8-3.0x multi, imo it will have reception to blame.

Yeah, this isn't mother!. Most people who will go see Kingsman know what to expect and will at worst leave with a general feeling of "that was fine, I guess."
