Dark Prince
So I think the OD record is pretty much in the bag now. Even with inflation, Potter's OD would be 93.3m, which is below most recent estimates for AoU.

GiantCALBears
In 50 years, Ron Weasley s merchandise will top in sales both Spiderman and Avengers obviously. Bob Iger has already his eyes on the prize. Frozen stuff will be beating all of them .
MrPink
Oh yeah, I can believe Potter had a worldwide impact and still has. I mean I know a girl who plays Quidditch competitions (?!) with her second league local team (?!) and just got back from an Oxford tournament (?!). She's 29.(?!!!) Put a ring on it? Mulder
Oh lord franchise wars. Harry Potter while still chugging along is no where near as huge as it was at the height of it's popularity. It will get a resurgence eventually but trying to argue that it has more American cultural relevance then Marvel which has last about 50 years or so not counting their time as Atlas/Timely Comics is just silly. Maybe in 50-60 years Potter will surpass Marvel but at this point, I really don't see how this statement can be made. Also have no idea the state of both worldwide so if someone from Europe like James says Potter's more popular there I'll easily believe him. Lumos
IMO Opening day should be everything it makes in the first 24hrs....meaning anything made after 7pm tonight shouldn't count! Or Thursday should have been counted as a separate day. I mean, if DH2 had 7pm Thursday showings it would have been well over 100m by the end of Friday. And that was with 2011 ticket prices and a lower 3d share....

I don't know about Asia in general but in Japan there's no competition either, Potter wins hands down.
