GiantCALBears
Be glad it's not Transformers. Summer 2009 was tough to watch that thing destroy the box office. It was tough to watch that movie period & I was dragged to it twice OW. Shia & Megan was the worst on screen chemistry in history.
The Futurist
Mh, stupid question. Was there an official Budget estimate in any report of the biggies HR, Variety or LAT for Age of Ultron? The number floating around is 250m but I am pretty sure it s over 300m. Actors had to be paid this time and the ending credits for this movie are nuts. Thousands of people worked on it, never saw so many names in ending credits. The vfx houses only, it s insane.
BoxOfficeZ
Around 100m? I guess DH2 loses the record for sure. 220 here we come?
Lordmandeep
If it increases tomorrow 70M Saturday is in play. Actually in terms of most tickets sold on day business is like a tie between Spiderman 3 and TA for thier Saturdays. Spiderman as well. Claire of Themyscira
I see no issue with people bring up Harry Potter. Let them be. It's like when people bring up DC or Marvel or any other film that isn't the film the thread is about. Get a grip, and the hell over it. You insecure about your film so much that you get salty when we bring up the legendary Harry Potter series? Bye. For one, it had a huge ass impact that we will probably never see be matched for a long ass time. Not even THG, as much as I love that series. Let them be. They have every right to get upset over a film like AOU beating DH2's opening day record by like less than 10M? Lmfao, all because of five extra hours? Okay. Y'all bring that shit up when it's another movie, so don't be getting fake and all. Harry Potter is the ish and will always be the ish, or at least for a long ass time. Sure, nowadays, Marvel has the upper hand with all the 3D and inflation, but who was the reigning WW champ back in the day? Oh, right. So, go ahead. Complain and whine about Harry Potter being talked about, and be a fake ass whiny hoe. I'll read you, eventually, when I'm done playing RE6 with my bestie.
GiantCALBears
How does owning stock in a company have anything to do with the importance of Marvel compared to Potter? I'm not pitting one vs the other just having an objective opinion.
Lordmandeep
Imagine if TF2 had 3D, would have done high 400's!
JJ-8
Gais, I'm a Potter fan, and I totes think that we should count the money Avengers makes in a way that Potter still comes out on top. Seems reasonable to me. Fun fact... in Australia, AOU made 1.4m from Wednesday night Previews and then followed with a 15.7m OW (the previews aren't included in the Opening weekend - don't forget that we have a 4 day opening weekend in australia) so this is a US only thing including the night before the OW in the OW in saying that, it would still only be the 2nd biggest OW in Australia Potter still retains that title either way Edited May 2, 2015 by Jajang and Back Again
Mattrek
Harry Potter, always relevant (I guess) As long as Noctis is still here, Potter will always come up in topics.
Aplandg
I do have to say, this is all so exciting! 2015 has been setting records left and right as we all expected it could. I really want some gigantic break outs this year!
redfirebird2008
Imagine if TF2 had 3D, would have done high 400's! Imagine if Spider-Man played on more than 7500 screens. That's half of what TA2 is playing on. Imagine also 13 years of ticket price inflation and IMAX and 3D tacked on. SM1 doesn't get enough credit for that performance.

Lol this is breaking Harry potters OD record & it's happening right now. No way that could ever come up in discussion outside of Noctis!
Dark Prince
If I remember correctly, the first post Noctis made on BOM back in the day was about Harry Potter. So you know, the legacy lives on.

Warhorse
Based on the lines at my suburban theater. I'm thinking 95-105 for the range. Less than 90 would make my jaw drop at this point I really wished I had gotten photos of the clusterfuck going on at the theater I was at last night. But, my phone died! But, they had lines building up since 6:00 AM on Wednesday morning. No joke!
