Very slightly bigger drop than IM3, tells us absolutely nothing.

Same drop as IM3 gives a 8.8M Thursday, same drop as Avengers gives a 8.6M Thursday.

For comparison,. IM3 earned 67.8% on Monday's gross on Thursday, Avengers earned 65% of Monday on Thursday, 8.4-8.6M would be 64-65% of Monday's gross.

So just over 235 for the first week. And say o/u 80M for the weekend and that's 315 10-day total. Not too shabby I guess :)

And que the "well it's below the first avengers" comments :P

Actually, it will be below The Dark Knight's running total to that point, and only 26M above TDKR's running total as well. Will most likely hold better and not finish below TDKR, but reaching TDK's 533M may be in jeopardy by Monday.

533M was impossible to reach since the OD numbers got confirmed.

Regardless of his personal opinion of Scientology, this was Travolta's dream project. He was the producer, he raised the financing, assembled the team, called it the next generation of Star Wars, etc etc etc.

It all came crashing down though.

AoU vs IM3 dailies since Sunday

SUN +17.0%

MON +17.4%

TUE +16.4%

WED +16.0%

If it stays 16% over IM3 then it will do $84.1m for the weekend. However it will be facing a smaller movie than IM3 did, so it. could go higher.

but reaching TDK's 533M may be in jeopardy by Monday.

It needs a 95-100M weekend for 534 to be back on the table.

And that is pretty clearly not going to happen. It's looking at somewhere in the 81-85 range.

It won't.. 70% drop is coming... I feel like this movie has a dark cloud following it preventing it from getting 90M this weekend.. Hate t feel this way, but since this past weekend, I've been conditioned to feel this way and that this movie will never recover from that..

70% drop would be $57m, man. It's gonna do much better than that.
