The characters had to be good for that finale to work with audiences.

People cared and really got into it. Hell, people loved Blue the raptor!! There's some perfectly decent writing going on underneath, despite the film's silliness.

I'd rather watch a film like JW or Transformers or Armageddon 5x than most movies even twice. I like being entertained. Those movies entertain.

IMO Transformers and JW aren't really alike at all. Transformers is a much more ambitious movie with stellar characters and some really emotionally intense scenes where JW is just throw popcorn in your face and watch dinosaurs throw down.

I was planning to take my kids to see IO next week.

What are the chances the movie turns me into a crying, blubbering mess?

The last thing I need is:

"Hey guys I thought I told you to pick up your toys"

"Fuck off, you big pussy!"

You will cry. Pete Doctor is very good at extracting that emotion from you.

There's no shame for tears, tears are so shmexy on a guy.

When I was standing in line to see JP4 last night, there was a little boy with his mom right behind me. He was begging her to let him see Jurassic. She didn't want to let him see it because "it's scary." I turned around and said the first movie was a lot scarier, that this one was more of a fun thrill ride than anything. She said, "Yeah but the problem is he won't know they aren't real." I said "maybe true."

He wanted to see it so bad, haha. He was probably 4 years old or so.

I'm assuming $33 million Fri for IO... I think this might go against the grain. $33.5 million Sat, $30 million Sun. $96.5 million OW on its way to anything from a 4x to a 5x. $385m-$480 million DOM is my range for this. I think it'll have breathtaking WOM.

No chance of 5 multiplier with minions coming in a month..
