I really loved Jumanji 1995, a very moving movie back then.

 

However I also accept these are different times and I appreciate to see them trying to take a completely different way for thiso ne, that makes it more acceptable. And videogames are now mainstream, only old people complain about that.

On RT, critics or the RT staff are being pretty generous with their Freshes considering their ratings. 

 

It has a 6.1 avg with a 79% RT meter.  Meanwhile Greatest Showman is at 41% with a 5.7avg

Star power - the Globes love it.  They also like to have musicals in their Comedy/Musical category

They always nominate the sole musical, no matter if it's good or not. Nine, Burlesque, even Quvenzhane Wallis got a nomination for Annie.

Also (you are right about Jackman and being a musical it was maybe between this and Beauty and the Beast), it seem more divisive but have some percentage of the population really loving it:

there is a perfect score on MC and 2 big raves, that give you more chance to a nomination (even if you cannot win) to be an hated/loved movie than one that everyone agree about being a 7/10 type, you probably do not need that many supporter to be in the top 5 of that category.

Back at 80% with 86 reviews. How many reviews are needed for this to be certified again? I thought it used to be 85.

It's supposed to be 80 reviews for any wide release, but sometimes RT's can be slow with certification depending on the film. Plus the average isn't so great so they're probably waiting for more reviews.

If they believe it has a good chance of slipping back under 75 they can wait awhile and with that avg they should.

Surprisnigly this movie was in the Top 20 in the Oscar list for best VFX.

Transfomers The Last Kight was snubbed as usual when as usal its VFX were spectacular and pretty much perfect as always in this saga.

It says a lot just how bad everyone one was in live action Beauty and the Beast as that  did not get nominated.

Life & Wonder Woman over The Last Knight do feel like a snub (maybe many did not watch the movie or been able to finish it at this point, I do not think I was able to finish a Transformer movie awake after the first and very good first Transformer) or take it for granted by now.

It’s my sons birthday today and he wanted to see this so we took the day off work and took them out of school and saw this. The theatre was half full and everyone really seemed to enjoy it. I laughed quite a bit, the whole family enjoyed it. I could see this being pretty big with families.
