Weekend Actuals (Page 93): TFA 42.35M | The Revenant 39.83M | Daddy's Home 15.02M | The Forest 12.74M | Sisters 7.19M

Not a strong hold for TFA this weekend but the actuals keep the B train in conversation for another week, but TFA would need a strong hold next week to keep that train in conversation.

The train is slowing down but hasn't derailed quite yet.

Last time posting this graph as TFA really isn't following any of the LOTR; it is actually following the Hobbit3 the most closely.  $925m to $950m is the more realistic range now.

Hmm not sure what you're talking about concerning dailies? I compared the dailies for ROTK last week and TFA and this is what I got:

Monday: ROTK -  -68.2% , TFA-62.7%

Tuesday: ROTK -  -9.6% , TFA-0.7%

Wednesday: ROTK -  -10.4% , TFA-22.1%

Thursday: ROTK -  -8.5% , TFA-3.8%

TFA actually dropped 7.5% less than ROTK this week.

Unless you're comparing week-to-week? In that case, ROTK leads with an overall 6% better week-to-week drop. I don't think that The Hobbit 3 did that.

I'm curious though, just how are you calculating this?

Not a strong hold for TFA this weekend but ..

Not sure what you mean, especially as the need to see can get fullfilled faster via theater count, but I see a slight difference in consition via the 2nd placed too (didn't I wrote that in this thread already? Sounds a bit familiar)

I'm using the exact daily drops for each movie.  The Monday to Thursday drops are reasonably close (as you have noted), but the Friday increase was way off; FOTR +198%, TTT +144%, and ROTK +118% compared to TFA +80%.  The LOTR movies increased well over 100% for the next few Fridays as well and that is why I'm doubtful that TFA will follow any of those movies.

I'm hoping to be wrong though and maybe TFA will surprise us and have more than a 100% increase this coming Friday.
