I just try to ignore media, this movie could go on to gross a billion and headlines would still read "worst movie ever to gross a billion" or "crosses the billion mark but comes up short of lofty expectations" I loved the film and glad it is doing well in the BO but I think this does spell the end for snyder as far as solo directing they will probably try to figure out a way to push production back a few months and have a new director who I wouldn't be surprised if they keep Zack on to maybe co-direct. Just so they don't have to push it back to far and can still make the release date.

Yeah, not really how it works. There are no "co-directors" in Hollywood unless they are related for the most part. It's exceedingly difficult to get that approved. It's not like having 7 producers. Directors are all represented by the Directors Guild of America, of which I am a member, and they have a strict rule, "One film, one director." You cannot violate union rules or you're out of the union and not being in the DGA makes your entire career a huge pain in the ass since all studios are signatory to the DGA and hire union crews, which means 1st AD, UPM, 2nd AD, 2nd 2nd AD, etc. are all DGA positions.

I was hoping it could at least beat Iron Man 3, but 166 is still an excellent number.

Question - Will any future DC movies be able to surpass $166 million opening? Personally I hardly see that happening.

WB's DC needs to develop a brand identity. In the manner of TWDC's Marvel films. I believe that can happen. Pleased as punch.

Wow. They just released numbers. As expected, WB waits until the end of the world to release those numbers.

All things considered, fantastic weekend for the studio. Amazing WW opening. Let's see what the real WOM does this to the movie.

Every single person at my work loved or liked the movie. Not a single person told me they hated it or disliked it.

So, at least on that part that's that.

We'll see how this goes.

Interesting, the only famous non sibling Directing team that comes to mind were British - Powell & Pressburger

A solo Batman film opened to nearly this much 4 years ago. I think WB expected much more from a Batman AND Superman plus Wonder Woman team up.

This has 3D.  Easly sold less tickets thanTDK, TDKR, and DH2

I'm not sure what unions or guilds cover the various filmmaking divisions in the UK (or elsewhere), but the DGA is US-only.

But WDAS films have lots of co-directors? Frozen (Chris Buck, Jennifer Lee), Tangled (Byron Howard, Nathan Greno), Big Hero 6(Don Hall, Chris Williams) and Zootopia (Byron Howard, Rich Moore). How is that?

Someone will correct me, but I had always believed that this was because of directing for voice acting, and directing animation.

Damn well WB way over estimated that but I know some members called that they would do that after all the bad press from the reviews.

Still a great opening considering all the problems. No way the reviews didn't effect it in some way though.

It's dumb though. No other superhero movie has opened on Good Friday, meaning the comparison is absolutely pointless.

Even for a normal weekend this was destined to be frontloaded.

Not to mention Chris Miller & Phil Lord are arguably two of the most succesful directors in Hollywood right now.

Directors Guild Of America gave me a clue, hence saying they were British. ;)

Aha! Phil Lord & Chris Miller!  They come from Animation where it's more common, I wonder if that's a factor.

Edit: In the time it took to post this it's been made redundant.

I guessed 178 - 182.

I was way off. I do think the reviews hurt it in the end and that it should have easily hit that. And I also think WOM will be very mixed from this point forward. But it doesn't have a ton of competition so next weekend will be interesting.
