BOT Top 100 Movies of All Time (2016 Edition) - Due May 12

When Star Wars was released it was cinder fast paced and today it is considered slow paced. I am worried what movies 30 years will look like.

This is true, nowadays I savor films that take their time and develop their world.  All of the action and spectacle has actually started to bore me quite often because I feel no connection to the characters doing the action.

My predictions for the upcoming forum list.

- At least one movie will turn up that largely only got there because it was quite recently released. (Most likely suspects: Deadpool, Zootopia, Civil War)

- The reaction emoticons will be overused to hell and back.

- Every Nolan movie will be ranked too high. Every. Single. One. (Also, if/when Interstellar and TDKR make the list, I will cut someone.)

- Panda's commentary will be good but not nearly as good as the intelligent, incredibly well-endowed host who did the list last time.

- Everyone will come away disappointed.

I absolutely love that movie. It has so much of what I love in comedies: it's not afraid to go completely bonkers, it's immensely quotable, the characters are a riot. It's also a scathing depiction of how sexism is nothing but a mask for male insecurity and their fear of progress/ upstanding of the status quo. I must've seen it over 20 times and I always crack up.

Cool glad you like it! I find it a pretty good comedy too. I just thought it was funny for it to show up in a list that has almost no movies after the 2000s and mostly dramas.

Older films definitely tend to move at slower paces, so if you're to used to modern day fast-paced blockbusters, I can see how they may be underwhelming.  You also have to remember the technology from the time limited what could be done on screen, it was much harder to shoot a thrilling action sequence then than now.

Unless you are Spielberg in 1981. :)

This is hilarious coming from someone who has TDK at #11.

Yeah, but I have no shame. You guys should know better.

(Besides which, if you seriously think TDK is going to miss the Top 10, then you obviously have more faith in this forum than I do.)

But it's mostly just pre 70s movies. I love almost all the dark thrillers and dramas I've seen from the 1970s era like, The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, The Deer Hunter, Badlands.

and of course I love Star Wars and Superman.

A lot of older movies on these lists, many of which I still need to see, I'm funny about them, it's kind of hard for me to get into them, I usually don't end up hating them, but I watched them hearing they are some of the best films ever and most of the time I'm like that was good but not amazing (It Happened one Night), but then occasionally I'll find one I love like Psycho or Ben-Hur, start getting into them.. and then I watch Vertigo and find it incredibly underwhelming. and thus, sludge through them at a slow pace.

I love Vertigo but it's one of Hitchcock's most difficult films to get into, especially if you haven't seen much else from him. Check out Rear Window and North by Northwest if you haven't, that's great entertainment right there. Rebecca, Rope and Shadow of a Doubt too.

I dunno about that. When I saw Vertigo, I wished it was the first Hitchcock movie I saw, mainly because the other ones seemed superficial in comparison.

He should watch Shadow of a Doubt and then it's very loose remake Stoker.
