Steve Carell and Emma Stone star in the ripped-from-the-headlines story of the 1973 tennis match between Billie Jean King (Stone) and Bobby Riggs (Carell). Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris are directing the film, which chronicles the Battle of the Sexes.

Cumming will play a character named Ted, believed to be Ted Tinling, who played a key role in King's life. The openly gay tennis player designed King’s dress for the big showdown and was a confidante as King came out as a lesbian.

Andrea Riseborough, Elizabeth Shue, Austin Stowell and Sarah Silverman round out the cast of the Simon Beaufoy-penned film, which is currently shooting.

Rated PG-13 for some sexual content and partial nudity.

Why do I get the feeling the "partial nudity" will be from Steve Carell?:P

I'm glad this is getting an Awards Season release date, I suspected it might be a contender this year.

Hell, good or bad I'm happy to watch Emma in a skirt chasing a fuzzy yellow ball for 90+ minutes. tennis.gif fondly.gif

Trailer looks like entirely standard awards fare. Still not seeing any reasons to expect more at this point. Was the real guy this much of a caricature or is that just Carell overdoing it?

King entered the court in a chair carried by four bare-chested muscle men dressed in the style of ancient slaves.[10] Riggs followed in a rickshaw drawn by a bevy of scantily clad models.[10] Riggs presented King with a giant lollipop and she gave him a piglet.

I wonder how high the odds are of the movie showing all of this.

The guy was a chauvinistic douche but some people say it was just an act and he was just being a showman lol.
