Has anyone here seen this film? Especially in theaters?

(Yes, I came back just to ask this question.)

Yes!  Went back during Christmas break 2019 with the fam. Had a weird blast.  Even convinced my friends back at college to go (without me) when we returned.

Covid hit and I bought the movie on digital. Within 2020, watched it 3 more times with other friends. Never sober.

Went to an Alamo in Summer 2022 for a rowdy screening. Whenever Hudson came on screen, someone kept yelling "SING MEMORY!!".

Love this disaster of a movie.

I did opening day.

I didn't hate it but I'm also not familiar with the property.

I walked out half way through and left my date in the cinema.

I went to see it twice in cinemas.

Yes, I saw it with an opening weekend audience that was into it but not for the reasons the filmmakers intended. It's definitely "WTF were they thinking and how did it see the light of day?" enough that it needs to be seen at least once, but as far as actual entertainment value goes? Nonexistent.

I saw this over its opening weekend with a small crowd that somehow took it seriously. I got a few glares for laughing at the many bizarre, unintentionally hilarious moments.

The thing that still amazes me is they did not get what should have been obvious...you can get away with making up actors to be cats in a stage production, where you don't have to worry about middle shots and close ups, but it's suicide to try it on screen..unless you are going to shoot the whle thing in long shots.

They should have done is as some kind of animated film.

The show works on stage but totally failed on film.

I sitll think Anhtony Lloyd Webber, the creator of the show, basically saying the film version sucked was the unkindest cut of all.

I'm not convinced this movie was real.  Feels like a collective fever dream.

Your little video is exactly how they should have done it, rather then imitate the stage show.
