What are the candidates to beat Civil War in 2016 ?

Star Wars Rogue

Finding Dory

and

ID4 2 ?

Am I forgetting something ?

I think that is pretty much it.  Moana has an outside chance as well.

So it's looking more and more like Civil War may be the most impressive run of the summer.

Unless Dory explodes but I am not feeling it.

As 2016 progresses, people will realize how much that year was an anomaly.

If Civil War is doing "what is expected" why did loads of people say in the opening weekend thread say it could have close to a 3 multiplier? Lol. Obviously it is doing fine but there is definitely some spin going on

The same idiots that were predicting $225m+?

There were like two morons saying that and they were the same ones predicting $225 million opening weekend and over $85 million for the second.

Alice definitely has better WoM from the general audience than Tomorrowland.  Alice got an A- Cinemascore, while Tomorrowland had a weak B.

Alice didn't hold up, and cinemascores aren't not really representative of anything. They're very limited in fact. They rarely prove anything.

This summer has been pretty Meh so far. We need a huge breakout.

As much as love Superhero films, we appear to be in a creative drought for tentpole films, almost every "original" big-budget film seems to be worse on plot and originality than the done over and over again superhero film. maybe studios will finally allow creative films to be made with a bigger budget. Superhero fatigue is definitely setting in, with the MCU being the only one managing to stay on top.(and Deadpool) they are going to have to keep making really great films if they want to keep it that way.
