So, let me understand something...

RT collects reviews. The tomatometer is at 84% now, while the topic critic tomatometer is at 85%. So, it's certified fresh, which is fine.

Trouble is that the critic average rating is 6.9/10. So, how the hell critics can like and/or love a movie, by giving it a 6.9 grade, which is basically a C? lol.  That's one of the reasons people shoudln't even take RT seriously. We have critics liking a movie and then giving it average scores ( if we go by numbers, 6.9 is a C grade ).

Movies are usually not rated the same way school grades are, and most definitely not in the RT conversion scale

A 3 out of 4  star movie when you break it down numerically is 75% but is most definitely not a C grade.  It's a B.

2/4= C, 1/4= D,  0/4= F

The Tomatometer isn't a grade for the movie it's how many of the reviewers gave it a recommend or passing grade and here the avg is nearly a 7/10 which means the general consensus is it's good.

I know it is an old ad.  But it does not mean it can't be taken in as bad image

They probbaly stormed out after the first 10 minutes and got their money back   (after they abused the ticket seller)

Considering a mother stayed with her young son the whole movie at my showing last night, maybe not. The people that stormed out were a couple probably early 20's who looked like they left cause the girlfriend thought the movie was dumb.

The tomatometer is a Yes/No question, with the % being the amount of Yes to No. It is either liked or disliked, no room in-between, so the problem with your analogy is, where does a "C" fall in that. You expect critics to give it a No because it is an average movie. (Along with the fallacy that an average movie cannot be liked).

Maybe she was trying to turn him vegetarian or celibate

Well the vegetables were alive too so... I feel like at that age I would have been traumatized by that scene in the movie especially seeing it with my mom.
