With the recent news of Zimmer and Wallfisch contributing to Blade Runner's score, it's not going to be eligible unless the entire score is composed by all 3. New predictions in Score:

1. Hans Zimmer, Dunkirk

2. Johann Johannsson, mother!

3. Alexandre Desplat, The Shape of Water

4. Carter Burwell, Wonderstruck

5. John Williams, Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Alt: Dario Marianelli, Darkest Hour

This is the first I've heard of Ella and John. Definitely rooting for Sutherland to get that nomination finally.

Oh, that's the film formerly known as The Leisure Seeker, right? At lot of people were predicting that at the start of this year, but it faltered. Maybe SPC can build buzz?

Everything will depend on first reactions. It doesn't even have a release date right now as far as I see. Might become a late bloomer for this year, might get hauled off to 2018.

I'm curious if Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool is going to go anywhere. It sounds like Annette Bening has a very good role in it, and Adapted Screenplay is empty as fuck.

director of victor frankenstein tho.

Some of the best directors started with trashy or forgotten films before securing projects that changed their careers.

One man's trash is another man's treasure.

Probably not the Academy's treasure though.

Streep/Lawrence/Winslet/Dench seems like a decent Top 4 based on what we know right now. Last spot is probably between McDormand, Hawkins, Foy (if lead), Mirren, and Chastain.

I'm curious if Matt Damon's main push will be for Suburbicon or Downsizing (providing they're both good)

I'd be rooting for someone from the second group on principle. McDormand or Hawkins would be great. Okay Winslet too if it's actually a great role this time.

I don't think Timothee Chalamet is happening , same for hanks
the general consensus about dunkirk is that it's missing the human element , that is why it is not gonna get acting noms or win BD

Kris Tapley responded to a fuckload of tweets yesterday on a bunch of films and dropped some things he's heard:

JLaw will probably have the most awards buzz out of everyone from mother!, but that's assuming the Academy will go for the film.

Suburbicon is going to be much more "commercial but who knows what that means anymore." Tapley thinks it'll be more of a Globe play.

He's heard good things about Kate Winslet in Wonder Wheel.

As has been rumored previously for Downsizing, Hong Chau should be in contention for a Supporting Actress nomination.

He hasn't heard much about Roman Israel and can't tell if it's just a Denzel play or something more.
