Surprised they actually used the name. 10 days til every Karen on fb is posting Marvel is part of the Illuminati.

It’s a plot by the real Illuminati to desensitize people to their existence by over-saturating the use of the term :sarah:

2022 and people care about The score :hahaha:

They will always care about objective measures of reception like most sports fans care about trophies, rings or records.

Everyone wants validation that their team is winning. Its hard to defend a critically panjed flop.

...no it isn't. You just have to say why you like the critically panned flop.

Neither reviews/ratings nor their aggregates are objective measures of reception. May be you do not understand that word. Even something like box office based on money, which one would think is objective, stems from peoples subjective desire, bias and perception to either see a movie or not. Though the box office would come closest if you really wanted an objective measure of reception.

of course  anyone can say it.  But not anyone will be able to debate the level of its failure if by most metrics,  it did fail.

A movies legacy is largely define but it's critical reception.  It's naive to believe that it's not the case. There have been very few instances of films that were widely panned by critics to be adored by audiences.

On the other hand there have numerous films adored by the public that are acclaimed by critics. It's naive to believe a films legacy isn't impacted by its critic reception.  Would Lords of the rings be as successful if it was as acclaimed? Star Wars? How many films that have standards the test of time are reviled critically? And I'm not talking cult status.

A lot of old films I like ,I didn’t know critics hated , til recently. The first Blade is a banger but has a terrible score on RT. Lord of movies like that. Pretty sure Friday doesn’t have a good score and that was a classic on day one.

Exceptions and outliers. The vast majority of "classics" are critically acclaimed films. At least 90% of them. Of course there will he exceptions like blade.
