I do wonder with Universal, will we start seeing $70M-$110M OW for DWA movies now?

Probably not, it's pretty rare for an animated film to hit that level and DWA hasn't had a $200m grosser since Madagascar 3. Its going to take time for DWA to reestablish itself and I suspect we won't see the results of DWA under new ownership until 2020 at the earliest

I thought it would make 200m before the ads failed to build hype.

JLaw and Pratt in a romance sounds great on paper, but it didn't materialize

Chris Pratt gives me a slightly off vibe that he doesn't strike amazing chemistry with female partners when he got to play straight romance and not crack jokes like a frat boyish goofball in between kisses. He's just wooden and bland. It's almost like he's struggling and ankward being self conscious that he's on a set surrounded by a crew while pretending to be in love and make love to a woman who isn't his wife.

That's good for Anna Faris but believability factor is dampened for me, almost like he just wants to get through the motions like he doesn't want to go there too much because it's too serious.

This is why typecasting happens. The guy plays a goofball in a few movies and now people can't accept him in other roles. Not a fan of Pratt, but he is still at the beginning of his career

I thought their chemistry was one of the strongest points of the movie. Heck, enough critics thought so that it's part of the consensus on RT.

The movie suffered script issues and marketing issues. The chemistry was not a problem IMHO. YMMV.

Yet Kong and Logan will still finish higher than it

You act like it's some kind of splendid achievement for either movies to outgross a indie flick with a budget equivalent to the budget of Logan’s/Kong’s buffet table during filming.

Nah, I'm pretty sure he was just saying that you're wrong

I don't think he has much range beyond goofball-types of roles to be honest. The weakest parts of Passengers (itself a flawed movie in general) came when he was actually asked to act.

Passengers had buzz.

It has two of the biggest stars at the moment, December release, sci fi romance.

It's just that the film was shit (IMO) and critics hated it.
