Wow, that's even more atrocious for the openers than reported earlier. Poor Free Fire, although A24 did it no favors by not giving it a TV ad push of any kind.

Free Fire is cult status bound, I think. But yeah, A24's carelessness for box office really did it very few favors, considering this should've gotten a properly marketed wide release. But holy shit, under 1M (if DHD is right)... like I said last night, La La Land did more on OW IN 4 THEATERS than what Free Fire is supposedly doing in over 1000.

My God, the slaughterhouse is real w/this one. At least the expansions (Lost City Of Z and Gifted) are doing decent and the family films (Boss Baby and BATB) had good holds, otherwise this would be terrible all around.

I honestly didn't think The Promise would do better than Unforgettable.  Quality aside, I've seen basically zero buzz about The Promise (other than its huge budget) and Unforgettable seems like the kind of movie to have a built-in decent OW just because it's such a generic thriller that appeals to a lot of people.

Lost City of Z isn't doing well either. Can't see it grossing more than $6-7m in total now. It never would have been big but they should have just opened it wide right away on a weekend with no competition for its type of adult audience.

It's not too bad considering the nearly 2.5 hour running time limits the number of shows per day.

With another expansion I could see it doing $10m - unless WOM is bad.

Probably because he doesn't bring in the big bucks anymore, even in his signature roles. Of course that's more on the quality of the movies than him...

Wish he would do another gig with his old buddy James Cameron. True Lies 2? Wouldn't that be cool!

Lol

So then Unforgettable

is a lot closer to being Heigl's biopic than I previously thought.

I haven't seen it, but from what I'm reading, it sounds eerily close to real life.
