For the Avengers 2. Let's see the following: Ultron increases WW (thanks for the Chinese market) 1.4B Furious to decrease 1.2BSW decreases by 1.3B Concerning your question about first Avengers, I do not think this can beat TA DOM. I guess it has a slim chance, but I do not see it probable. 525-550 should be a reasonable target (2.3-2.4 multiplier with a 230 opening). But with the possible billion OS, it would beat TA WW. And relative to the examples you give, Ultron did not increase, but decreased WW (I guess you mean OS, and yes, the increase was due because China). And I do not think that F8 and SW8 are comparable. None of them were the end of the franchises. The event film of each franchise was the previous film (both F7 and TFA). We will see what happens with SW9 and whatever will be the final Furious entry, but for the moment we do not have any other comparable franchise, excepting maybe, as you well said, Harry Potter. a2k
thinking 800-1000 os [900] 500-600 dom [550] 1300-1600 ww [1450] RPO has added more flavor to AIW's (already enticing) bo run cause RPO China vs AIW China is a real thing atm.

You keep repeating that IW is "the end". Have you forgotten Avengers 4 next year? In IW, Thanos won't be defeated yet. He will come back in Avengers 4 and that is where he will be defeated. So strictly and realistically speaking, Avengers 4 is the finale of the current iteration of the MCU. IW is like Deathly Hallows Part 1/Breaking Dawn Part 1. Avengers 4 is Deathly Hallows Part 2/Breaking Dawn Part 2.

People like you and me know it, but most people (GA) are not so informed about the release schedule. The main difference between the two examples you have given and this one is the name of the films. Why Marvel changed the name of the fourth part? just for a possible spoiler in the title? or there is a marketing reason too? If IW had kept its original name (Infinity War Part I), people would have said: "Oh, there will be another Avengers film in upcoming months/years. Maybe I can wait to see the next one at theaters". But for some reason they changed it. This is being sold as the ending and with that title people can perfectly asume that this is the end and go massively to see it.

If true, good strategy on the part of Disney.
lor15
Presales here in Uruguay going crazy, and that's no common at all. It's a tiny market, but that could be a good indicator for the incoming OW in the region. 5 2

MattW
IMDB says that IW will have Japan opening on April 27th, so if we include that then Age of Ultron had an OS-Ch opening of $270 million, and if you adjust for slightly worse exchange rates that puts it right around 250m (back of the napkin work here). I'll guess IW will open in the 275-325 range. So here's a first pass at what seems like it should be lower end, maybe a 30-ish percentile, prediction: WW Dom OS OS-Ch Ch April 29 500 225 275 275 May 6 835 365 470 470 May 13 1120 445 675 555 120 May 20 1280 490 790 600 190 May 27 1355 515 840 625 215 Jun 3 1395 530 865 640 225 Jun 10 1415 540 875 650 Jun 17 1425 545 880 655 Final 1450 555 895 665 230 In order to top Fast 8's worldwide opening it'll probably need something like 240+305
