SMH - 5.9

Fandango

DM3

Yup, this is definitely Spidey's first appearance on MT. It's gone as high as #3 on Pulse but only in the middle of the night.

SMH tracking at 100M+ and Apes tracking at 50M

Quote

As far as franchise fatigue goes this summer, we hear July is apt to reverse the trend with Sony/Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming seeing a $100M-plus start and 20th Century Fox’s War for the Planet of the Apes potentially beating the $50M opening that some trackers are spotting.

lol at the lack of participation theaters are  doing tomorrow with usual discount Tuesday.  i wonder if that will lead to regulars giving going to the movies tomorrow the cold shoulder.

At the local I normally go to, their 1st early show discount is still on for tomorrow - DM3 has sold out the screen (save the front row).  The other matinees are all only half sold at this point...

More fuel for the kid movies need a deal for turnout, I guess...

EDIT: Same thing for the mall - early show has filled 2/3rd of the theater - next matinee at 1pm has sold 7 seats...

maybe the first early show is early bird pricing which equals discount Tuesday pricing and all showings afterwards are priced as normal.

Did a sellout count in SoCal. A really weird situation right now where AMC has declared all their Thursday showtimes but Regal has declared only partial showtimes. So there are no direct comps because for almost all the comps, Regal mostly had declared all showtimes, should have a clearer idea on Wednesday.

Current count:

25 sellouts/285 showtimes.

Not exact comps because of Regal deciding to be slowpokes

  • ULTRON was at 9 sellouts / 565 showtimes the Monday before release.
  • FURIOUS 7 was at 0 sellouts / 365 showtimes the Monday before release.
  • TDKR was at 101 sellouts / 391 showtimes the Monday before release.
  • Guardians 2 7 sellouts / 350 showtimes (half Regal theaters had declared the showtimes)
  • Suicide Squad 31 sellouts / 365 showtimes with a similar partial showtime declaration
  • Don't have any Monday Wonder Woman comps, should have a better WW Comp on Wednesday afternoon

Some final comps

Comps:

Apocalypse: 295 showtimes / 13 sellouts

Alice: 235 showtimes / sellouts

F8: 335 showtimes / 12 sellouts

Guardians 2: 413 showtimes / 24 sellouts

CA3: 22 sellouts / 607 showtimes

BVS: 34 sellouts / 578 showtimes

ULTRON: 28 sellouts / 700 showtimes

SUICIDE SQUAD: 41 sellouts / 455 showtimes

MOCKINGJAY 1: 21 sellouts / 435 showtimes

FURIOUS 7: 55 sellouts / 471 showtimes

MAN OF STEEL: 48 sellouts / 220 showtimes (midnights only)

ROGUE ONE: 69 sellouts / 658 showtimes

WONDER WOMAN 42 sellouts / 337 showtimes

Guessing it ends pretty close to Wonder Woman's final showtime numbers in SoCal since AMC are basically maxed out as much as they can be (based on similar comps), Regal theaters can add about 80-100 more shows.

Canada still has Cheap Tuesday tomorrow because they don't have a holiday. Just the US theaters not having it tomorrow because of the holiday, the increased foot traffic (compared to normal) due to the holiday probably trumps the cheaper tickets based on their calculations.

It is - that's my point:)...these 2 theaters kept the early bird pricing for their way-too-early 1st shows...and the other shows don't have it, and even though they are WAY more convenient time-wise, they aren't selling...

Okay, Apes has officially panicked after seeing DM3's numbers this weekend...Atom (yesterday) posted a BOGO for the movie if you get their app...guess the Apes people read my posts about sequels needing discounts to get people in:)...now if only DM3 would follow, since I haven't taken my brood in yet!:)...

We'll see if Fandango follows with a better deal...

PS - Apes will also have a $4/ticket deal on Atom next week...
