Just took a look at the SCREAM pre sales (see above) and they are pretty bad...

With the huge marketing effort Paramount has put in, I was expecting MUCH better

As a big Scream buff, I was really hoping to see at least Halloween Kills number

What do you think we are going to see for OW? $20-30 mill?

I’d be very happy with $20-30m.

I’ll be happy if it beats Scream 4 tbh, but omicron could have other plans.

Do you have any early indications for this Eric? Would a $20m+ 4 day be possible, or is it out of reach/too early to tell?

Thanks

I seen they did this for Spider-Man in early December, is this a bad or good sign?

It worked spectacularly for some movies (Spidey, Venom) - it failed for others (didn't Snake Eyes have this?:) - and still others (like Bond) had a presale bump, but kinda fizzled somewhat in the weekend.

So, I think it works best for movies that the GA is on the fence on (for whatever reason) or just looking for one more excuse to go (or go multiple times - ie Spidey).  And I think it works best for movies that fall into the phone deal users 18-35 paradigm (since TMobile's deals are very entertainment oriented, seniors probably don't even log in on Tuesdays to look at the deals).

I know we'll now almost certainly be seeing it with the deal b/c now my son gets 2 Jan movies (b/c we'll see this for $4 and then watch Morbius with our pass)...

So, I would think this will help sell Scream more than what it was gonna do and if it doesn't absolutely suck, I think it will bump the weekend in a non-marginal way and the overall BO, although 2nd weekend drop could be high...

PS - The big reasons I mention it are so folks can get a deal for a movie (b/c we are all movie lovers) and b/c the deals have provided Tuesdays in the past with higher bumps than normal Tuesdays - some movies, like Venom and Spidey, have sustained them into huge weekends.  Some, like Bond, didn't.

Thanks for explaining, it’s not something we have in the UK. T-Mobile was bought over years ago here.

It sounds like a similar alternative to “Meercat Movies” here.

I wish I could give you an answer. Comparing Thursdays to Thu+Fri/Fridays is already tricky, the numbers are still out of sync on these ends, and Omicron's got potential to fuck everything up. I am leaning positive on 20M+ at the moment, but I don't want anything set in stone here.

Anyone know if tickets for Morbius will still go on sale on New Year's Eve?

It was Jan. 1st, then they made it New Year's Eve, but late last week they said TBD now.  My guess is Jan. 7th.

FWIW, a quick check of Fandango doesn't have any showtimes listed yet (even greyed out), so next week is looking more likely, as EC said in the Morbius thread.

Out of curiosity (I can't help doing it ;)) and because it only takes a few minutes:

Scream had today 502 sold tickets for Thursday, Jan 13 (14 days to go).
Comps: The Forever Purge had on Thursday for Thursday (= 0 days left) 241 sold tickets,
Halloween Kills had 9 days before 315 sold tickets for Thursday

and AQP II had also 9 days before 402 sold tickets for Thursday.
Both HK and AQP II had good jumps in their last week and to stay on that level Scream would need nice increases in a week but so far the presales for Scream look good in my theaters. Additionally e.g. in the AMC in LA 7 showtimes were added (from 2 to 9).

And for Friday, Jan 14 (15 days to go) it has today 205 sold tickets.
Comp: Halloween Kills had 10 days before 353 sold tickets for Friday.
