The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo

Recommended Posts

1st local

DH 0/60, 3/110, 0/110 for 3/280 (horrific numbers - worse than Nut Job Never Again, this year's awful family sequel standard:)

MOE 10/175, 4/175 for 14/350 (not good, either)

One local...

DH 3/70, 7/70, 0/70 for 10/210 (not very good, but better than 1st local)

MOE 32/90, 3/90 for 35/180 (better, but not amazing) - also, this is now PG?  Wow!  The family film gets the PG-13, and the adult film gets the PG - when has that happened lately?

Orient Express is PG-13; that's an error by your theater

I think Orient Express is going to reach mid 20's OW and have stellar legs from here on out. It's apparently a fun movie, and for older audiences it's a blockbuster for them. An identical performance with Arrival is what I see here. Although reaching 100M DOM like that movie did is a stretch, but not impossible.

For the umpteenth time now... audiences can smell a cheap cash-grab when they see it. They liked Daddy's Home two years ago but nobody in the world asked for a sequel outside of Paramount accountants. Been placing bets since this summer (when that teaser dropped) over how long 'till Gibson single-handily gets blamed for Daddy's Home 2 crashing and burning?

Despite the fact that it was yet another sequel to a well-liked film nobody requested and ignoring the fact both Wahlberg and Ferrell have headlined several duds recently. But no... it's all Gibson's fault. Ugh.
