The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo

Recommended Posts

Missed my normal Pulse comparison-time:

120/5 (one hour ago) and 153 at the moment for The Nun - it won't go on like this I'm sure, but so far, it's in front of M: I 6 and The Meg had 41 same day and daytime
30/5 minutes at the moment for Peppermint - looks indeed quite good
4/5 minutes one hour ago and 2/5 minutes at the moment for God Bless The Broken Road.

A $50M+ OW for The Nun is looking good at this point.

I noticed that WB never released a full trailer for it, either; goes to show just how effective that teaser was.

Some dude in my audience screamed when the nun popped out at the end of the trailer at The Happytime Murders last week. Shit was funnier than anything in the movie itself.

movietickets.com top 5 sellers

1 - Crazy Rich Asians - 26.7%

2 - Operation Finale - 8.3%

3 - Mission Impossible - 7.4%

4 - The Meg - 7.3%

5 - Christopher Robin - 5.2%

the top 5 % shown adds to 54.9%

The Meg/Mi6 is closing on Operation Finale, but Operation Finale will probably still be in the top 5 next weekend.  It is obviously a high destination seller on MT.  I don't see The Nun moving back on the list until Tuesday.  Peppermint should show up Wednesday and confuse the hell out of forecasters.  God Bless the Broken Road didn't have a Wikipedia page the last time I checked, and it has a very small about of YouTube trailer views so I don't see that one selling much.  Nothing should/could increase today, however War Room had a 0.6% jump Monday September 7, 2015.

Just ran across this trailer w/ over 4 million views released 7/23

I'm surprised myself at these presale numbers.
MT and that is the freezing number:

#1 The Nun 19.1%
#2 CRA 17.6%
#3 Searching 5.4%
#4 M: I6 4.4%
#5 The Meg 4.3%

And Pulse at the moment:
330/5 minutes for The Nun (yesterday around the same time 155)
75/5 minutes for Peppermint

You really have to thank Warner for finally breaking out of that self-fulfilling prophecy, that September is a wasted month in terms of Box Office. This year looks like so much potential, after August was more or less the dump-month.

One day they will all wake up and understand, that the right movie is not dependant on when it opens.
