Cars 3 OVERESTIMATED BY 1.1 MILLION! HOLY SHIT!

DISNEY are sneaky bastards that only did that so they could steal second place from Wonder Woman! If there is any justice in the world, Cars 2 is going to crash HARD against DM3 this weekend.

Well that's a given. Is Cars 2 even going to be playing in any theaters this weekend?

That race between GotG2 and WW for the Summer 2017 crown is going to be very interesting over the next two months. It's shaping up to be the closest summer finish since 2007 with the third entries in the Spider-Man and Shrek series.

You mean 2nd and 3rd, when SM:H swings and and nabs it out from under them... :P

Because I'm an idiot, I still watch Grace Randolph's box office shows every week, as it's among the very few box office shows on YouTube. And what does she have to say about Wonder Woman?

"DOM, it's a big deal, but OS.... I dunno, I think it needed more action scenes if it wanted to make as much money as Suicide Squad".
WONDER WOMAN NEEDED MORE ACTION SCENES?

Grace Randolph was rooting for Wonder Woman to do well became it came out, now she is pissed that it is a hit movie and starting to complain about it. She is one of those people that prefer underdog movies.

WB should be kissing Wonder Woman's feet for saving the DCEU.

They are so desperate for Spider-Man Homecoming to be a hit that they shoved Iron Man into the movie and gave away EVERYTHING in the trailers. I'm kind of rooting against that movie.

Have you not read any of the reactions thus far? From people who have actually seen the movie, it sounds like there is plenty that has not been spoiled... add in what looks to be a massive critical success, and I feel like Spidey could really bring it... especially if it really is as good as SM2, if not better.

Now if you have seen the movie and are saying everything is spoiled, then you might have a point, but I am going in expecting some surprises.

Iron Man and Spider-man interact all the time in the comics. Why not in the movies?

And critics are saying SMH has plenty of surprises so I guess you're rooting against a good movie for no actual reason.

I'm still pissed at Spider-Man 3, and the two ASM movies. Sony has a really horrible track record with Spider-man after the second movie.
It's a toss up whether I'm going to see the movie or not.

I get that, and I think that is really why this movie needed to not only be critically accepted, but it really needs to be acclaimed in order to win over the people who are "over it"... which it sounds like it does. In which case, we have potential for the film to be massive.

I get being a bit fatigued by the notion of yet another Spider-Man movie, it is the third iteration in 15 years after all.

but personally I've been won over by the positive reviews and now plan to watch it OW. No point in holding Sony's past mistakes against a good Marvel movie.

So close... where was puerto rico to swoop in and round that off nicely? Paramount seems to be familiar with the people there.

All Eyez on Me has the third worst drop ever for a 2,000+ theater release (behind only...Gigli and the Friday the 13th remake). Ouuuucccchhh.

I should make a t shirt that says "I am in the small minority that watched All Eyez on Me after opening weekend."

WONDER WOMAN NEEDED MORE ACTION SCENES?  It was NEVER gonna do as great as other films - it's Wonder Woman's 1st movie and she's not as big of an OS deal as Batman or Superman, for fuck's sake, and she's still gonna outgross Man Of Steel anyway. Suicide Squad was an ensemble film w/an insane marketing machine that made the film a pop culture phenomenom. NOT THE SAME THING. But oh no, it needed more action scenes to do better than that, as if it didn't have more than enough, and most if not all of them pretty great... what's next, it needed Vin Diesel quoting "family" and driving a car into a frozen lake? My God

Fourth week for Wonder Woman, and another week for Randolph to look for "negatives."  At no point has she mentioned how extraordinary the weekly drops have been and how loud the real-world buzz has been. At no point has she mentioned that the film has become a very real pop culture must-see moment, which is why the box office decreases have been so amazing and so atypical for a summer superhero blockbuster. At no point has she talked about the box office pace that it has followed, which has already put it ahead of all previous DCEU (at the same point in their runs). All she mentions is the things the movie still has not accomplished and what other criteria make Wonder Woman's box office "just ok." Of course it is no The Force Awakens. Of course it is no Titanic. Of course it is no The Dark Knight. It is a Wonder Woman film, and it is doing fantastically well all things considered.  I cannot wait for Spider-Man: Homecoming to come out so she can say, "Well, sure, it opened with 125 million, but Spider-Man has so much more potential! Let's not sugarcoat it, kids: Spider-Man opened with 174 million adjusted, and Spider-Man 3 opened with 194 million adjusted; clearly, Homecoming was a disappointment" (or something equally absurd).
