Second Act | STX | December 21, 2018 | Jennifer Lopez, Leah Remini, Vanessa Hudgens & Milo Ventimiglia | The Feel Good Comedy Of The Holiday Season

Recommended Posts

With Mary Poppins bombing things are looking even better for Second Act. It could be the surprise hit of the Holidays and have The Greatest Showman legs.

Deadline reported a while ago that test screenings went excellent and that's why STX decided to move it to the Christmas weekend.

If this really gets excellent word of mouth I could see it happening, now that Mary Poppins isn't the Death Star everyone expected it to be.

STX took JLo's next movie away from Annapurna. Along with moving Second Act to the crowdest release date of the year, those are very strong signs they are confident in this film. Also, from Deadline: "We hear Second Act is moving due to some incredible test screenings."

The Greatest Showman type of run incoming? STX is on to something.

I think I'll create my first club.

Second Act could realistically do A+ cinemascore, 13.5 OW, 100 Domestic in December.

If this movie is good and well reviewed it will make $100 million easily. JLo is a beloved legendary actress.

Early reactions incredibly positive, I've never seen such a positive response to a movie before. $100 million domestic may be happening. Maid In Manhattan is going down.

Arguably their best performer domestic after The Gift and the Bad Mom franchise (Feel pretty & Den of Thieve had significantly bigger budget), until I imagine The Upside legs with that A cinemascore pass it, but still it give an idea looking at that list, among 25 release it will be in the Top 5, top 20% of the distributor history, top 4 if you remove sequel.

Yeesh, either both of you are 12, trolls, have some kind of disability in understanding numbers, or a combination of the 3.

Like seriously, no one with any knowledge of box office can say this was a “bomb” of any kind nor can they defend it being a “mesmerizing hit” yeesh

The funniest thing was how one of them (you can probably figure out which one) was arguing about how Second Act was going to have Greatest Showman legs and make like 170M or something. But even with this only making like 40M, they're still trying to spin this as a massive success and saying stuff like "It managed to beat Holmes and Watson. STUNNING" or "Only the big tentpole movies made more. If this had a 100M budget, it would've made even more money. J-Lo's a true draw".

Like obviously this is still successful, but...really?

What I don't understand about this site is...why do some people are so bothered by Napoleon's stanning of Jlo? How does that impact you (you know who you are) negatively? Can't people just let people enjoy what they enjoy without spreading their miserable negativity and trying to bring that person (who enjoys what they enjoy) down?
