Do they really need to use a lot of CGI to make Theron look like she's in her 20s? She's playing 30 year olds in the movies she stars in right now. They won't need anywhere close to the amount of deaging CGI used in The Irishman and MCU movies.

But if they're casting someone else, I wouldn't mind Samara Weaving (who's also Aussie).

Theron isn't completely responsible, of course, but she was a very big part of the success.  And she is right to voice her true feelings about it. If she was hoping to get her own franchise, she very well deserved it but WB gave it to a younger actress. It's a bad look, no matter what their excuse is and no matter what talent their got for the part. It's a bad look. No way around it.

"Bad look" just means that you're more concerned with how something looks (to you) than with what it is. This entire series is Miller's baby, not WB's or Theron's, and he has the right to take any risk with it he's interested in taking. (Lord knows it's paid off in the past.) If he succeeds in this case we might get another Brando/De Niro pair of iconic performances of the same character, or at the very least another case of Gibson/Hardy. If he doesn't, sucks for him (and for whoever he'll have cast) but Theron's performance will remain untarnished. But this "tsk tsk but she deserved a franchise!" finger-wagging ffs cry me a fucking river.
